CBSR Aquatic Athletic Development Program
The CBSR Aquatic Athletic Development Program is designed specifically for baseball and softball athletes ages 15–18 who want to become stronger, better conditioned and more complete athletes.
Swimming and aquatic training can be an excellent addition to baseball and softball development because they challenge the entire body while placing significantly less impact on the joints. Swimming requires athletes to control their body through resistance in the water, developing cardiovascular fitness, muscular endurance, core strength, coordination, mobility and body control.
For baseball and softball athletes, this is especially valuable. Swimming can help develop the shoulders, back, core, hips and legs, while also challenging breathing and cardiovascular capacity. It gives athletes another way to build conditioning without constantly adding the running and impact associated with traditional conditioning.
What the Athlete Gets
Through this program, athletes will learn how to use aquatic training to complement their baseball or softball development and will gain access to structured training designed to help improve:
Full-body strength and muscular endurance
Cardiovascular conditioning and work capacity
Core strength and stability
Shoulder, hip and overall mobility
Body control and coordination
Movement efficiency
Recovery through low-impact exercise
Overall athletic conditioning
The goal isn't to turn baseball and softball players into swimmers. The goal is to use swimming and aquatic training as another tool to build better athletes.
By adding aquatic training to their overall development plan, athletes can challenge their bodies in a different environment, improve conditioning and build physical qualities that transfer back to the demands of baseball and softball.
